The re-arrangement at Tate Britain has put Elizabeth Butler’s Remnants of an Army next to Millais’ painting.  It depicts Dr. Brydon as the lone survivor of the disastrous 1842 retreat from Kabul.

As of this writing, The Vale of Rest by Millais is in the same room as The North-West Passage.

Other Millais masterpieces held by the Tate such as Ophelia and Mariana are in other rooms nearby.
